  • Day 1

    Melbourne to Geelong

    Distance : 75 Kms

    Time : 1 Hour

    Morning: Start your Great Ocean Road Trip by picking up your motorhome in Melbourne, stopping by the supermarket for groceries and road trip snacks, then hit the road towards Geelong. Set the tone for an epic trip, and check out the giraffes, rhinos, and lions at Werribee Open Range Zoo!

    Afternoon: Arrive in Geelong for a leisurely walk along Eastern Beach, where you’ll find an art deco swimming enclosure, palm-lined paths, colourful bollard sculptures, and more! Continue with a trip to Geelong’s cultural hub, exploring Little Malop Street for street art, boutique shops, and cosy cafés.

    Evening: Check into your accommodation, park your motorhome and freshen up before taking a sunset stroll along the Geelong Waterfront, stopping by the historic Cunningham Pier. Enjoy dinner at Sailors’ Rest, a waterfront restaurant with excellent seafood and steak options.

    Afternoon: Drive into the historic town of Queenscliff, and take a guided tour of Fort Queenscliff – one of Victoria’s best-preserved military fortresses. Enjoy a waterfront lunch with fresh seafood and a view of Queenscliff Marina.

    Morning: Take the Searoad Ferry from Queenscliff to Sorrento (make sure you book a spot for your motorhome) enjoying a peaceful 45-minute ride across the bay. If you’re lucky, you might spot dolphins! Once in Sorrento, take a short drive to Point Nepean National Park (don’t forget to pack a lunch), where you can explore historic military tunnels and enjoy panoramic ocean views.

    Afternoon: Spend your afternoon at Point Nepean National Park before taking the ferry back to Queenscliff with your sights set on Anglesea for a late afternoon relaxing at the beach – or take a short walk-through Anglesea Heath, home to wildflowers and native wildlife.

    Evening: Park your motorhome at Anglesea Beachfront Family Caravan Park and head to Point Addis Lookout for a spectacular sunset over the cliffs.

Stretch your legs with a short hike to Erskine Falls, a beautiful waterfall just a short drive from Lorne.

    Evening: Arrive in Apollo Bay and drive up to Marriners Lookout for a breathtaking sunset.

    Afternoon: Arrive in Warrnambool and treat yourself with lunch at the Pavilion Café & Bar, which overlooks the ocean and serves great seafood and brunch options. Spend the rest of your afternoon at Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village, a recreated 19th-century port town where you can explore historic buildings and learn about shipwrecks along the “Shipwreck Coast.”

    Evening: As the sun sets, attend the Shipwreck Sound & Light Show at Flagstaff Hill, which tells the dramatic stories of shipwrecks through light projections and narration.

    If you prefer a shorter walk, visit MacKenzie Falls, where you can take a short hike down to the base of the falls or view them from the top.

    Evening: Drive to Reed Lookout & The Balconies for a stunning sunset over the mountain ranges before relaxing with a home-cooked meal in the comfort of your campervan.

    Afternoon: Aim to be in Ballarat by early afternoon to explore Sovereign Hill, an open-air museum that brings the gold rush era to life with costumed actors, horse-drawn carriages, and gold panning experiences. If you have time, stop by the Ballarat Art Gallery too – it’s the oldest and largest regional gallery in Australia.

    Evening: Explore Lydiard Street, a beautifully preserved historic street with grand Victorian buildings and find a quaint place to stop for dinner.
